Want a free download? Give me your best double feature

Want to get your hands on this game for free? Here's all you have to do: Give me your best double feature, and why those two movies go together.

But there's a catch. There always is. You need to get creative with it. Sure, it'd be easy to say "'Walking Tall' and 'Mitchell' both have Joe Don Baker in them." Or "'Iron Eagle' and 'Top Gun' both have fighter jets." Both of those statements are true, but where's the spark? Where's the panache?

No, your double feature should be a bit more esoteric than that. For instance, if I showed "Chopping Mall" and "Night of the Comet," the theme would be "Kelli Maroney Goes to the Mall, and Bad Things Happen." See? It's the same actor, but now there's a bit of fun connective tissue between the two films.

Or if I paired "Trick or Treat" with "The Gate," the theme would be "Don't Ever Play a Record Backwards." Seriously, you shouldn't anyway. I doubt you'll commune with the underworld, but it's a good way to ruin your stylus and / or record.

So, between now and the release date (Aug. 16, 2024), give me your best double-feature. I'll feature my favorites here on itch, and on the official Tumblr page. And three of you will be snagging free download codes here on Itch.

You can mention me on BlueSky , email cultofthedrivein@gmail.com, hit me up on Tumblr,  mention me on Instagram, or mention Brian Transplant on Mastodon. I'll monitor all those feeds and announce the winners on launch day. Give me the two movies, and the name you'd give to that pairing. Imagine you're advertising this double feature on a poster or billboard. What clever name would you give it?

So to summarize:

  • First feature
  • Second feature
  • Pairing name

Details:

  1. No purchase necessary. If you won it for free, why would you purchase it anyway? Unless you plan on giving a copy to someone else, in which case that's awesome of you (but still not necessary).
  2. You're giving me permission to share your picks here and on my tumblr. If you'd rather I not mention your contact information (email, socials, etc.) let me know ahead of time. I will definitely honor that request.
  3. Cult of the Drive-in, Brian Transplant,  etc. are not affiliated with, do not endorse, and have nothing to do with any films, studios, distributors, filmmakers, or any other brand names. No such affiliation should be implied or inferred.
